Graphic designer, producer, and risograph printer Xena Brar will share about about their practice through a text to image workshop, guiding participants through an introduction of risograph by responding visually to an excerpt by Jenny Odell from her book How to Do Nothing: Resisting the Attention Economy
Artist Bio
Xena Brar is a graphic designer, producer + risograph printer. Their work aims to challenge the idea of what a graphic designer is expected to create and experiment with mediums across printed collateral, sculpture and more.
They’ve been working with Secret Riso Club as printer, workshop teacher and production coordinator since 2021 and have since founded their own personal risograph press called Battle Jester.
Their goal is to make risograph printing more accessible, and teach communities interested in the practice the history of radical printmaking while utilizing the machine as a tool rather than a skill to learn. Risograph printing has always been inherently radical in its roots, and they aim to get back to that!
