Thirty Under Thirty is part open house, part workshop, and is Risolana’s most *affordable entry point for both seasoned veterans and newcomers to riso! We have riso technicians help you fine-tune your drawings, digital illustrations, photographs, and text to suit the medium, and give you helpful tips to remember for future riso prints.
In the spirit of resolana, we believe there is so much to learn from helping and observing one another. We encourage guests to stay after their print to watch others work, learn design and print skills from one another, and get inspired from one another in a fun, communal learning environment.
Every 30th of the month, participants can sign up for a thirty minute time slot in which they may print 30 copies of an 11x17in (or smaller) 1-2 color print of their choice. Upon receiving prints, we ask for a $30 suggested donation to cover materials and maintenance of the studio.
Submissions for each month’s 30/30 typically open on the 20th of the month. You can sign up at the following Google Form link. If the form is closed for submissions, it is likely that month’s event is either at capacity or has not been opened yet.

ABQ Print Crawl!
Join us for the inaugural ABQ Print Crawl! Organized by the Special Collections Library Center for the Book. Drop by Risolana—or any of the participating organizations—on Sat. 4/18 to pick up a passport (made by us!) and start your tour of some the landmark print shops, galleries and studios in town! Risolana will be hosting a free drop-in 2 color postcard making workshop.
Collect three or more stamps on your passport, and you can enter your name for a special prize drawing at the culminating reception downtown at the Richard Levy Gallery from 5-7pm.
No reservations or fees, just get to know your local print orgs!

Along The Way - Ryle Yazzie
Artist and photographer Ryle Yazzie will discuss his latest project Native Genes and speak on selecting film and digital images, the printing process, and embracing limitations in art.
Participants will receive a signed 11 x 17 inch poster printed in three colors, featuring an image derived from Ryle Yazzie's Native Genes catalog.

Artist Statement
Growing up traditional and non traditional, on and off the Navajo Reservation, my view of the Navajo Reservation, the people and culture is from a third hybrid view. This third hybrid view is also informed by my experience of living in another country. Living in Dubai introduced me to another culture, government, rules, laws, and an overall different view of the world. My perspective is from an artist’s gaze of outside looking in, of not only the view of Navajo Reservation but also the US. I am using analog photography as the vehicle for double exposures, triptych and diptychs, as well as installations that play with romanticization and fetishization of Native life. I’m also interested in the ideas of citizenship through representation, using satire and the tactics of consumerist media.
Native Genes Book Launch
Join us for the book launch and exhibition of Native Genes, Summer 2025 by Ryle Yazzie. Yazzie is a Diné artist, veteran, and currently a graduate student at the Institute of American Indian Arts. Native Genes catalogs a pop-up art installation of used jeans sourced from the Navajo Reservation from local flea markets in Window Rock, Shiprock, Gallup and Yah-Ta-hey areas. As part of the work, Yazzie took a series of self-portraits of himself wearing the jeans–sometimes too big and sometimes just right–and documents the stories of hardship and determination told through the fabrics’ wearing and natural patina. Putting the used jeans in conversation with himself and in the context of a high-art photo catalog, the book asks the viewer to consider our obsession with authenticity, along with the age-old question; what makes something the real deal, or just a knockoff.

The book launch is in conjunction with Yazzie’s MFA thesis at the Institute for American Indian Arts and will feature a gallery show exhibiting artworks derived from the book. Native Genes & Limited Edition Riso prints on display and for sale.

Sacred Herd Gallery Hours
Risolana Artist in Residence Jacob Gutierrez will be in the studio every Sunday (excluding December 21st) for Sacred Herd Gallery Hours as he assembles and binds the final editions of Sacred Herd. Visit Risolana to meet the artist and see this unique show while it is still on display!
